Green Banana Curry

* Cooking Time = 35 mins
Ingredients (Serves 6)
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • green bananas, deskinned,cubed and soaked in cold salty water
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup crushed coconut
  • 1/2 cup milk
For puree
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce/puree
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
Directions
  1. Heat oil in a non-stick skillet.  
  2. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, bananas and saute for about 2-3 minutes. 
  3. Let the bananas go brown on the edges.
  4. Add the puree ingredients and fresh lemon juice. 
  5. Bring it to a boil. Let it simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  6. Add coconut and milk. cook for 5 more minutes. 
  7. Serve with rice or indian bread (naan/roti).

  1. Looks nice. It makes me feel hungry. Want to try sometime. BTW, why green banana? I thought green banana would be too raw and a bit sour.

    Yellow banana will be too sweet ... but once cooked green banana tastes really good.
